I’ll start by saying this: I love this podcast, I think Joey is a great host, and I appreciate what it does for the motion design community. With all that being said, I really wish the guests were more representative of the people who actually listen. We need less millionaires and entrepreneurs. We need more artists. More people who can talk about working in the industry right now, about how they feel about big changes happening and how it affects normal people. I know they probably don’t get the same draw as say, a Beeple, but I think it’s important to the community that this podcast doesn’t just become a popularity contest

A question: when I select the RS materials dropdown menu, the toon shader doesn't show up in the list. All the other shaders are there though. Does anyone have a clue why I'm not seeing the Toon shader?

Beeple is a talented artist who creates a wide variety of work. A significant portion of his creations involve Daz Kitbash 3D collage on a high-performance PC. He initially started with drawings in his early everydays. While he may not have the same drawing skills and output as Picasso, he definitely has his own unique talent and style.

Exactly my thoughts digital art is a shortcut to doing real painting 😅and then now people are wanting to draw a line now. When people and digital artists get inspired or copy real painters all the time and nothing ever comes out of that.

The concept of owning non tangible items with the same rights and regulations as tangible items has never not been a thing. Not having a transparent cataloging system needed to manage non tangibles, ie digital media for things like re-sale has been the issue. I saw this part being the benefit of NFT's (or whatever comes after it). RIght now everything is one directional, and the dialog of "know one was thinking we could own a JPG" is the narrative the majority of corporations prefer. They prefer anything to distract from the majorities mindshare from the continuation of individuals that for decades yelled and pushed for systems that provide better regulation with digital media comparative to physical media. The added missguided narrative of "NFT bad" was another misplaced misdirection that happened thanks to what "capitalism" incentivized in individuals trying to get "one ups" in the system through loopholes in regulations (or lack of) and the wider population not understanding of NFTs. ie in the same way ML means AI to the wider public I think the correct narrative was lost because neither Corperations nor Digital Creators want to talk about "rights" because there system of income greatly benefits from there use of others efforts. I see the AI (ML promptards) as a hyperextension (or maybe)of the same people who sold their own spiderman/xmen/"FAMOUS IP" print or t-shirt at Comicons back in the day vs creating from those inspirations, but with most minimal effort to be soooooo directly connected to the capitalist part of what ART needs function with in. It is the facade that so many put on, lying to themselves to legitimise their use of a tool that really invokes that guttural despisal of them. Using ML to iterate on your own art is a great way to rapidly get feedback on what you created and sample directions you might want to take your art. You don't always have the right friend or coworker to bounce ideas off of at a whim and ML fits that role very well. This back and forth use of ML is the narrative that I would like to see and hear more often but it doesn't create a prolonged outrage of back/forths to maintain this online medias engagement/Value/income, so forget it I guess.

This is great! Question: If I want to duplicate the head once rigged and have two separate operable rigs in same scene is that possible? If I just duplicate the rig it only gives you operation for one and you loose the original rig connections it seems...

The adobe clarifications still don;t deal with issues like NDA's and working on material you are not the copyright holder for like client work or working on materials iunder fair use doctrine. I'm surprised to see they put the specification for CLOUD SERVICES back in but with their push towards AI it's hard to know what systems are run internally and which are run in the cloud. Sure Firefly is clearly in the cloud so workingg on NDA work or work that you LEGALLY cannot grant a license for then you avoid Firefly but what other systems have your content sent to their cloud? If I use firefly to do some inpainting on a movie poster I am editing under NDA, I hjust violated my agreement with my client. What about Rotobrush 3? I know that one is local but what does the futur3ehold and will users be warned if it changes form local to cloud operation? What about ... spellcheck, auto transcription and so on so forth. Without know exactly what tools go to the cloud (and see me granting Adobe a license that I may not be allowed to grant them) it's a liability that no one doing client work should have to face. Adobe's tools are meant for professionals ... professionals have to worry about legal liability.

I always wanted to be a 3D motion graphic artist but a PC with the specs required can get very expensive. Is The Guardian telling us there's already AI fatigue? A lot of people are leaving Adobe but I don't think it's going to put a dent on them.

I had to block Adobe from pulling money from my card because of that annual subscription scheme. I wanted to try out one month or two but then found my self stuck and can't cancel anything until the end of the year.
